Epoxy resins have been used with great success for decades in construction chemistry. The main applications here are usually the protection and repair of concrete or steel structures. In the case of floor coatings, the primers perform the task of reliably adhering to a wide variety of substrates, including the most adverse, (e.g. damp) substrates. High chemical resistance, high mechanical strength and long durability are expected from top coatings. Epoxy systems for grouting material, whether in the garden and landscaping or for tiling, need to display excellent workability and high mechanical strength in use. Increasingly stringent requirements are being placed on the toxicological properties of epoxy systems during application, as well as in later use. The most important points here are VOC-free, emissions-free, and components without the hazard classifications that require a GHS 08 label.
